What Is The Right Hair Loss Treatment For Me

Many people consider hair as their crowning glory. It is a natural fact that the head sheds hair everyday. Should the amount of hair loss be more than the body can naturally replace, it could eventually lead to baldness. Hair loss that has led to baldness can deal a harsh blow to one’s confidence, and self-image. It is for this reason that those affected with this recognized problem are constantly searching for the most effective hair loss treatment.

Many factors contribute to the loss of hair. The loss may be as a result of an illness, or even the treatments, or medications used to combat an illness. Also, if one is genetically predisposed – due to your father, or mother’s, or grandparents baldness – to losing hair, then there is a good chance that you too will lose it. Additional contributors can be pregnancy, menopause, changing levels of hormones, or stress. All may contribute significantly.

What should you do when you see the signs of excessive hair loss, and need hair loss treatment?

Go To A Doctor

Consulting with your doctor is the first thing you should do when your hair loss seems to be excessive. An endocrinologist, and a dermatologist can help you to eliminate any possible medical reasons that may be causing your unnecessary hair loss.

Apply Minoxidil

You probably are already familiar with a product called Rogaine which is applied to any bald patch on the head. Rogaine is usually applied at least two times a day. The manner and the exact method of how this product works is not really known, but it has been said to cause the blood vessels in the scalp to dilate. Many have found this to be an effective hair loss treatment.

However, when the minoxidil treatments are stopped, the hair loss would again resume in as little as a month or two.

Apply Propecia

This product is also known as Proscar, and is effectively used by many women as a hair loss treatment.

The active ingredient in Proscar is finasteride. Finasteride has been proven to block the active formation of testosterone. It also helps to bring back to life those hairs that have long been predisposed to an inactive life resulting in substantial new growth.

Surgical Hair Replacement

The option to add hair where there is none through surgery is a process called micrografting. This process replaces lost hair with results that make the hair look natural, and is a permanent hair loss treatment.

This process requires a thin strip of hair containing hundreds of hair strands, to be surgically inserted into a slit on the scalp. The surgeon must then expertly ensure that the hairs inserted appear to grow in the same direction as the natural hair.

This is surgery, so before undergoing this process, it is important that you first ask the surgeon for references, and try to look into live samples of the surgeon’s work.

Treat Alopecia

Though not much is really known about this hair loss condition, there has been evidence to show that there exists a genetic predisposition to this hair disease, one of which involves the body’s auto immune system.

All in all, there are a lot of hair loss treatment options available. If you are not comfortable with your hair loss, take the time to investigate all of your options.
